Designers are entrepreneurs with passion for content eager to redefine traditional ways of looking at things. DesignFarmBerlin is a new initiative of the Weißensee Academy of Art Berlin aiming at inverting the traditional startup practice. Our approach starts with design by developing a meaningful concept for a product first, then looking for a solution through technology and, finally, by developing an adequate business model.
“People think that design is styling. Design is not style. It’s not about giving shape to the shell and not giving a damn about the guts. Good design is a renaissance attitude that combines technology, cognitive science, human need, and beauty to produce something that the world didn’t know it was missing.”
We are convinced that design has the power to detect emerging needs, ask the right questions and thus drive innovation. DesignFarmBerlin is here to demonstrate that design-driven start-ups are about „market relevance and meaningful results“. (John Maeda)
DesignFarmBerlin is granting scholarships combined with a tailored mentorship program for design-in-tech start-ups, thus providing a basis needed to grow on the fertile grounds of Berlin‘s creative tech scene during the seed and start-up phase.
