Rethinking Design Aesthetics of Post-Mastectomy
Lingerie.
Breast cancer can be described as a modern epidemic. According to the World Health Organisation, every eighth woman will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer in her lifetime. Treatments often include a mastectomy, which encompasses the full or partial removal of a breast. Recovering women who will not or cannot immediately reconstruct their breasts survive the disease with a new, altered, one-breasted or none-breasted body.
Embrace is a wearer centric garment alternative that supports individual clothing needs after breast cancer through a modular and customizable approach to garment design by implementing 3D knitting technologies.
