Sweep is a collaborative cleaning robot that supports street cleaning employees during their shift by relieving them of repetitive tasks with a heavy physical load. The concept demonstrates how outdated labor processes and infrastructures can be upgraded by implementing autonomous technologies in a sustainable way.
Since the robot follows the employee behind their back, the conventional relation between machine and operator is dissolved. Universal feedback mechanisms and new principles for human-machine interaction enable a smooth workflow. For example, biomimetic movement patterns are used to communicate certain states and intentions of the robot. This is essential not only for the employee but also for pedestrians to understand and foresee the behavior of the robot in public spaces.
