Cyclists are usually simply overlooked in road traffic accidents and have no opportunity to draw attention to themselves in an emergency. Ultrabar is an assistance system integrated into the bicycle handlebar that enables direct communication between cyclists and car drivers to catch their attention. The concept behind Ultrabar takes advantage of parking sensors of modern cars as an interface and makes use of their functional principle to manipulate them in such a way that they display a warning for motorists in the car. This gives a cyclist the possibility to address and warn drivers about their presence „at the push of a button“.
